Greece, in the 1920's, is occupied by the Turks. The country is in turmoil with entire villages uprooted. The site of the movie is a Greek village that conducts a passion play each year. The leading citizens of the town, under the auspices of the Patriarch, choose those that will play the parts in the Passion. A stuttering shepherd is chosen to play Jesus. The town butcher (who wanted to be Jesus) is chosen as Judas. The town prostitute is chosen as Mary Magdalene. The rest of the disciples are also chosen. As the movie unfolds, the Passion Play becomes a reality. A group of villagers, uprooted by the war and impoverished, arrive at the village led by their priest. The wealthier citizens of the town want nothing with these people and manipulate a massacre. In the context of the 1920's each of the characters plays out their biblical role in actuality.。法术高超的刘海因替南诏国祈福而遭奸人所害蒙受不白之冤，逃亡路上与狐女胡秀英由冤家变爱侣，为搭救南诏国二王子蒙正，刘海等人从南诏国潜伏到萝蔓女国，为对付魔煞，刘海等人只有找到聚魂宝珠，又必须聚齐“琴，棋，书，画，剑”五样神器。因爱生恨的五毒首领金蟾则助奸人处处与刘海作对，几经险境刘海与金蟾最终化敌为友，并共赴夺宝之战。。激战后的359阵地硝烟未散，邱原和战士小周就开始抢修工事。这时，团侦察排长季刚带着师长的命令来到阵地找邱原，要他马上撤下阵地。邱原一心要为牺牲的战友报仇，执意不肯撤离，季刚不由分说，硬是把他带走了。他们走在泥泞的小路上，一幕幕往事浮现在邱原的眼前：在开往前线的火车上，五位不同经历的大学生聚到了一起。到达战区营地，他们立即投入紧张的临战训练。训练结束，邱原被留在团前线指挥所，默涛、季刚、丛培民和刘国政四人都上了前沿阵地，投入到激烈的战斗中。无名高地上，由于敌众我寡，我军伤亡很大，培民负了伤。目睹这一切，邱原坚决要求带突击队上前线，张副团长只好同意了。战斗越来越激烈，刘国政带领工兵们紧张排雷，在爆破筒用完的情况下，他决定人工排雷，毅然抛开前来阻拦的战友、勇敢地向雷区跑去。在攻打359阵地时，邱原遇上了默涛，他们并肩战斗攻下了敌阵地。默涛在敌工事发现一把吉他，上前欲摘，弄响了越军的绊发雷，邱原听到爆炸声赶来时，默涛已倒在血泊中。默涛牺牲，邱原悲痛万分，想起几天来的一切，邱原扭头往阵地上跑，季刚紧追，无奈，他顺势将邱原推下山坡。邱原到医院看望受伤的丛培民，培民此时因左腿被锯掉正痛苦的向医生发泄自己的愤懑。邱原走来替战友向医生解释。过年了，邱原望着街上闪闪烁烁的万家灯火，心情久久不能平静。。
