妻子王弗死后，文豪苏东坡（欧阳震华饰）无心再娶，尽管王弗的堂妹王闰之（万绮雯饰）对苏东坡一往情深，但苏东坡只当做不知情，一味的躲避。一场意外之中苏东坡得罪了寿安郡主（李亚男饰），为了维护苏东坡的利益，王闰之挺身而出，答应嫁给鼓庄公子韩元，哪知道韩家经营的全都是不忠不义的黑心生意，事到临头，苏东坡和秦少游（王浩信饰）一起救下了即将狼入虎口的王闰之。 几经波折，苏东坡总算答应迎娶王闰之，但两人约法三章，婚后苏东坡依旧享有无拘无束的自由生活。那边厢，秦少游结识了苏东坡的妹妹（黄心颖饰），一来二去之中，两人之间生出了情意。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
